A Patch for Air Force Members

air force circle PatchIf you're a member of the Air Force of if you simply want to show your support for air force members, you might want to add this patch to your jacket.  The Air Force Circle Patch Small features the logo of the United States Air Force and is perfect for applying to hats, jackets, and vests.  It's one of several military patches found on The Cheap Place.

This patch is a three by three version of the current seal of the U.S. Air Force.  The eagle above a shield on a field of blue, however, was not the original Air Force symbol.  Instead, the first proposed seal was designed in 1947 and featured the Wright Brothers' airplane on a green background.  Arthur E. DuBois designed it, and after some input from air force officers, he changed it to feature the eagle and Jupiter's thunderbolts.  President Harry Truman approved the design in November of 1947.

The main colors of the seal, blue and gold, were the colors of the original U.S. Air Corps.  The seal also includes thirteen stars that represent the thirteen original states; the bald eagle, a traditional symbol of the U.S.; and thunderbolts, which represent air superiority.

Even though it is fairly small, the patch has a number of different colors, including brown, white, yellow, blue, light blue, and red.  It's a very faithful recreation of the Air Force seal.  If you're looking for biker patches to show your support for the air force, you can't go wrong with the traditional seal.
