A Patch for English Pride

England Shield Flag PatchIn honor of Royal Wedding that took place on April 29 2011, I've chosen the England Shield Flag patch as the subject of today's post. You can find it in the IT-patches section. Now, please don't take this the wrong way - I have tremendous respect for the UK and their royalty. I have a sister-in-law who is a British citizen, so I know how important the Royal family is to them. And in regards to today's wedding, I'm happy for them (William and Kate) and their fellow countrymen.

Now that I've got all of that out of the way, let me comment on the patch itself. It's a typical shield patch featuring the Union flag in blue, red, and white, all with a gold border. Believe it or not, the white "X" is the symbol of the Scottish flag; the red cross the symbol of the English flag; and the red "X" is the symbol of Northern Ireland's St. Patrick. The combination of the three make up the British flag which is used by Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Now that you know the details, you might want to get one of these patches if you're an American of British descent or even a British citizen living in the states. Show off your pride in your native land by displaying this on a hat, jacket, T-shirt, or in a patch collection. It's a beautiful piece which is not only attractive to the eye, but also a statement of your affection for Great Britain.
