A Perfect Patch for US Coast Guard Veterans

US Coast Guard Small Rocker PatchWhile everyone knows the army, air force, navy, and marines, some people forget that the US Coast Guard is a branch of the armed services.  Those who serve in the coast guard are no less deserving of our respect and honor on days like Veterans Day.  While it's true that the coast guard doesn't seem combat as often as other branches of the military do, its members do put their lives on the line to rescue ships in distress.  Members and veterans of this group may want to wear the US Coast Guard Patch - Small Arm Rocker With Flags to let others know that they are a part of this proud service.  This patch is one of the US Coastguard Patches.

Like some similar rocker patches, this one is more than just a black arch with words on it.  It also features a split U.S. flag on either side of the 'US Coast Guard' rocker.  The left side features the stars side of the flag, while the right side is the red and white striped section.  The patch measures four inches across by one and a half inches.  It can be ironed on to most materials, but if you're putting it on leather, it's recommended you sew it on so you don't damage the material.

The coast guard originated as the Revenue Marine first, a military group created by Alexander Hamilton.  Since then, it has evolved into one of the seven branches of the U.S. military and is tasked with maritime and military service.  It is the only branch of the military to have a maritime law enforcement mission that gives it jurisdiction in both U.S. and international waters. It's also unique in that during peacetime, the coast guard is under the Department of Homeland Security, but during wartime, it falls under the Department of the Navy.
