There are a lot of different cool Flag Patches on The Cheap Place, but most of them are done in the shape of an actual flag. There are a few different ones, though, like the Africa Map Patch. This is a really neat patch because instead of being in the shape of a flag, it's in the shape of the continent of Africa. The patch is done in the colors of red, black, and green. These are one of the Pan-African colors (the other color set is green, yellow, and red). These colors are used to represent the Pan-Africanist ideology in Africa and some of the other African countries and territories.
The red, black, and green flag is the flag of the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League, or UNIA. Each of the three colors has a specific meaning. Red stands for the blood that unites all people from Africa and all those with African ancestry. Black is for the people, and green is for the rolling green lands that can be found in most of the continent. The flag was adopted as the official flag of UNIA in 1920. Since then, many other organizations have used the colors on their logos and for their activities.
This Africa Map Patch measures three inches by three inches at its widest and tallest. The patch can be ironed on to many types of materials, but if you're putting it on leather, use the die cut borders to sew it on.
If you're proud of your African heritage, this is the patch for you. It's different, colorful, and eye-catching.
