An All-American Patch

american patchI chose today's patch - the American Patch in the IT-Patches section - because of its classic styling. In terms of culture, music, fashion, and just about everything else I am a big fan of the 1950s and early 60s. Unfortunately I wasn't born until 1965 so I missed out on most of the good stuff. That said, the elegant cursive writing of this patch, in gold against a black background, reminds me of something you would see in days gone by. I think it would look extremely good against black leather.

It comes in two sizes: 10" x 2" or 4" x .75". The larger one fits perfectly on the back of a jacket or vest. In fact, The Cheap Place shows a picture of one on the back of a leather jacket, right at the bottom. It's perfect. Of course, you're not confined to leather jackets or vests - you could sew it to the sleeve of a jean jacket, on a backpack, a pair of pants, or wherever you find space.

I have another idea as well. I'm a guitar player, and in several bands I used to play in we decorated our guitar and gear cases with bumper stickers. I'm thinking with a little super glue you could put this patch on your guitar case. How cool would that be? And if you have a soft-shell gig bag you could sew it on instead. The more I think it more think it's a great idea.
