Sturgis 2010 Patch Orange ShieldDid you attend the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in 2010?  If so, you know how much excitement, energy, and fun was had at the 70th anniversary of the rally.  The Bike Week Stuff category of patches has several different ways of showing you were at this historic event.  If you love the color orange, you'll want the Sturgis 2010 Patch Orange Shield.

The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, or just Sturgis for short, is held every year in Sturgis, South Dakota.  Usually it's the first full week of August.  The rally began in 1938 when the Jackpine Gypsies club decided to host an event in the area.  That first year it was called the Black Hills Classic.  Nine riders participated in the race.  Originally, the main focus of the rally was on racing and some stunts.  Later, hillclimb and Motocross events were added.  Since then, activities such as a cycle show, swap meet, and other events have been added.

Sturgis has been held every year since 1938 with the exception of several years during World War II.  This was due to gasoline rationing.  While attendance has changed over the years, recent rallies have done very well due to a renewed interest in motorcycling.  Today, it's not uncommon for the whole family to attend Sturgis.  Many bring campers or trailers in addition to their bikes.

The Sturgis 2010 70 Years patch is shaped like a shield.  It measures two inches by two inches at its widest and tallest.  The lettering is done in a bright orange so it's very visible.  If you attended the 70th anniversary of Sturgis, be sure to commemorate it with one of these cool patches.
