Celebrate Your Puerto Rican Heritage with this Patch

Puerto rico flag PatchWhile it's not an official state, Puerto Rico is practically the 51st state of the United States in the eyes of many.  Technically, it's an unincorporated territory, but those from the island take great pride in being a part of the U.S.  Those from Puerto Rico also have a lot of pride in their heritage, and many bikers from Puerto Rico like to show their allegiance to their home by wearing a Puerto Rico Flag Patch.  You'll find this unique item in the Flag Patches category.

Unlike some flag patches, the Puerto Rico flag isn't rectangular.  Instead, it's wavy, like it's rippling and blowing in the wind.  The first thing many people notice about the flag is that it is similar to the U.S. flag yet very different.  It has five stripes, three red and two white, that run horizontally.  However, where the U.S. flag has the rectangle of blue in the upper left corner, the Puerto Rico flag has a blue triangle coming from the left hand side with the point landing in the middle red stripe.  A single white star sits in the triangle.

The current flag is somewhat based on the first Puerto Rican flag that was created in 1868.  This flag was designed by Dr. Ramon Betances and created by Mariana Bracetti.  It was used as a symbol in the island's revolt against Spanish rule.  Later, in 1897, the color scheme and use of a single white star were incorporated into a new design, and that design remains the flag of Puerto Rico today.

This patch features vibrant red, white, and blue surrounded by a die cut yellow border.  It measures 3 by 2.5 inches and can be either ironed on or sewn on, depending on what material you're displaying the patch.  It's one of many in stock patches that can be purchased in bulk as well.
