From Michigan? Here's Your Rocker Patch!

Michigan PatchThere's a State Rocker Patch for every state in the U.S. and a few other countries, too.  If you're looking for the Michigan Patch, here it is!  This state rocker measures 4 inches long by 1.75 inches tall.  It's arched so it fits perfectly on the shoulder of a jacket, although you could also put it on the front of a jacket or vest.  Like all state rocker patches, this one can be either ironed on using the plastic heat-activated backing or sewn on.

Michigan is rare in that it is the only state to be split into two peninsulas.  The two are separated by the Great Lakes, four of which touch some point of Michigan.  The state is actually larger than most people think, it's the 11th largest in area and is home to the 8th largest population in the U.S.  Michigan became a state on January 26, 1837 and was the 26th state.

The name Michigan is based on an Ojibwa tribe word meaning large lake.  However, the French settlers in the area had difficulty with the language, and they made a French form of the word to use instead.  That word later morphed into Michigan.

If you're into boating, Michigan is the state for you.  It's one of the top destinations for people who love recreational boating.  In addition to the Great Lakes, there are almost 65,000 lakes or ponds in the state.  If you're in Michigan, you are never more than six miles from a natural water source!  The state is also a large draw for hunters and those who want to explore the state's large number of forests.
