I Love Politically Incorrect Patches

I want you to speak English Uncle Sam PatchYou should know by now that I love politically incorrect patches; this time it's the I Want You to Speak English Uncle Sam patch in the Biker Sayings category. I appreciate it for several reasons including the message it conveys and its artistic detail. It may be small, at only 4.75" x 1", but it packs a lot of power. It uses the familiar Uncle Sam personification of the U.S. government made famous during the War of 1812.

The first use of the Uncle Sam logo and slogan was on military poster designed to attract recruits in the war against Britain. It features an elderly man with a goatee, formal jacket, and top hat with a stern look and his right index finger pointed toward the reader. The "I want you" slogan is still used most of the time, but not always. In the case of this patch it's directed at American immigrants whose first language is something other than English.

If you really want to stir the pot attached this patch to a piece of clothing you wear regularly as a residence in an area with a high immigrant population. Southern California, Arizona, and southern Florida are the first ones that come to mind. Make sure you sew it on with needle thread, however, or else someone might rip it off. The heat activated glue on the back works well to attach it with an iron, but it may not stand up to an angry non-English speaker.
