It's Not Too Late to Grab a Sturgis 2011 Patch

I rode mine Sturgis 2011 PatchHave you attended any big biker rallies in the past only to get home and realized you missed grabbing a commemorative patch?  If so, don't worry, The Cheap Place's Bike Week Stuff section has you covered!  You'll find patches from a number of big rallies and from many previous years there.  For example, if you went to the Sturgis, South Dakota, rally in 2011, the I Rode Mine Sturgis Patch - 2011 is just what you need.  It's a great way of remembering all the fun you had at that rally.

Sturgis, South Dakota, is a small town in the western part of South Dakota.  It normally only has around 6,000 people in it, but when the bikers invade for Sturgis, upwards of 500,000 people come to town!  Usually, this happens the first week of August, although sometimes the event is shorter or longer than a week.  Sturgis first began in 1938 by the Jackpine Gypsies motorcycle club.  This club actually still owns the tracks and field areas that host the main part of the rally.  Originally called the Black Hills Classic race, nine people participated in the first rally.  Originally, the rally was all about stunts and races, but it went on to include bike shows, trading areas, and family events.  In addition to biker events, other events have been held in conjunction with the show, such as the World Championship Wrestling Road Wild event.

This Sturgis patch is done in orange and black, the colors of Harley Davidson, so it's particularly cool for Harley riders.  The phrase 'I Rode Mine' has been used to distinguish those who rode their bikes all the way to Sturgis from those who came in campers and other vehicles with the entire family.
