There's nothing wrong with vegetarians or vegans. They don't eat animals or animal products, and that's their choice (even if they are missing out on some tasty, tasty beef, chicken, and pork). When they cross the line and start telling everyone that they can't eat animals or even have animals as pets, that's when they go from making a personal lifestyle choice and becoming crazy people. PETA, which stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, is the craziest of these groups. This Funny PETA Patch, People Eating Tasty Animals is aimed at mocking them. It's listed in the Funny Patches category on The Cheap Place.
The real PETA group was founded in 1980 by Ingrid Newkirk and Alex Pacheco, two animal rights activities. They gained a lot of publicity in 1981 when they got involved in what is now called the Silver Spring Monkeys case, which involved monkeys being experimented on by a company in Maryland. This case lead to changes in the Animal Welfare Act and made PETA a household name. PETA does a lot of good things, such as capture-and-release spay and neuters of feral cats and dogs, work to get homeless animals adopted and out of kill shelters, and more. However, some of them are more radical than others, saying that owning pets is selfish and makes the animals suffer. They even go so far as to say that keeping fish in aquariums is wrong!
If you think PETA people are nuts and want to mock them a bit, this patch is for you. It reads 'Proud Member of PETA, People Eating Tasty Animals'. Wear it proudly while you eat a steak! You can even order wholesale patches and give one to everyone you know who loves a good burger.
