If you served in the military during the Iraqi Freedom conflict and received the Purple Heart for your bravery during active service, then this Purple Heart Patch ? Iraqi Freedom is the patch to commemorate your service. You cannot go out wearing your medal all of the time, but you can show your achievements by attaching this patch to a vest, jacket, bag, or hat. This way everyone will know what your service meant to this country and what kind of veteran you are.
The patch is a relatively simple and circular one that measures three inches in circumference. The background is that of a plain black twill patch with embroidered edges, while the top is the banner for the conflict with alternating colors of red, white, green, white, black, and tan, and the words 'IRAQI FREEDOM' are spelled out through the middle of the banner in red lettering. In the middle of the patch is an artist's rendering of the Purple Heart medal. Around the bottom half of the medal in bright yellow lettering are the words 'PURPLE HEART'.
Because of the size of this veteran patch it can easily be attached to a number of things without a problem. The quickest and easiest way to attach the patch is to iron it onto the fabric directly. The back of the patch is coated in heat activated adhesive that will bond with the fabric when ironed on. If you do not want to iron it because you are attaching it to leather or putting it on something that is oddly shaped, you will want to sew it on around the edges. You can do this by hand or with a machine, just pick the method that is easiest for you to use.
