While there are some military services that do exclude women, in today's modern world, many have realized that women have just as much of a right to serve their country as men do. There are a number of women serving in different capacities in the U.S. military today, and some do see combat. Of course, that means these women may become prisoners of war or go missing in action. For those who have lost a sister in combat, this Sisters Forever Patch - POW MIA honors them. It's one of the Ladies Patches on The Cheap Place.
Like the related Brothers Forever patches, this patch features the POW MIA flag. This flag was created by Evelyn Grubb, the wife of a POW, and first used by the National League of Families. It was first used to remember those lost in the Vietnam War, but since then, it has been used to represent those lost or being held prisoner in any conflict. Currently, the flag is black and white, but it has been different colors and has been altered a number of times.
This patch is done in black and white, just like the POW MIA flag. The words 'sisters forever - never forgotten' circle the flag, which is in the center. The patch measures three inches across and is embroidered. It can be sewn on to leather vests, jackets, and other pieces of clothing. If you're putting it on other types of material, you can iron it on to save time.
