Today my hat is off to all the waitresses of the world, though I suppose the politically correct name for them would actually be "servers". Anyway, in honor of then and all the splendid work they do, I have chosen the More You Tip Nicer We Are patch for today's post. It's a 4" rectangular patch you can find in the IT-Patches section.
This one would be ideal for servers at a locally-owned restaurant or diner. It would be good for servers at a national chain as well, but I don't suppose their strict uniform guidelines would allow for it. Either way, sewn strategically to the front of the server's shirt or blouse, it would serve as a gentle reminder to patrons to be a little nicer to their servers.
I have a soft spot for these people because my first job was in the food industry. I wasn't a server mind you, but I worked the counter at an eat-in pizza joint. And since we didn't have a wait staff, the counter staff serviced as the official "recipients of boorish behavior." If I had owned one of these patches back then, and I could have gotten permission, you can bet it would have gone on my shirt.
So to all you waiters and waitresses out there, keep up the good work. Some of us really appreciate all you do. For those who don't, ask your boss about buying a dozen or so of these patches. You might get lucky.
