Today's post is dedicated to the survivors of the Joplin tornado, as well as all those who have suffered so greatly during this spring's floods and storms. The selection for today is the Shit Creek Survivor patch found in the Funny Patches category. Although in the context of what's happened down south it's not so funny.
This patch is perfect for you folks because you looked disaster in the face and you survived. And because you are Americans, because you are proud of your cities and neighborhoods, you will rebuild. It won't be easy...that's a given. But when the creek recedes, you will come out on top and you will have your lives back.
I know wearing a patch like this won't necessarily help you clean up the mess and rebuild, but it can serve as a reminder a few years from now so that you never forget. And so those around you never forget. It also can serve as a conversation starter when you're talking to people in the future about floods and tornadoes. It's a great way to introduce people to your story.
The Shit Creek Survivor patch is a 4"x1.5" black and white rectangle. Its size and color make it ideal against dark fabrics and black leather - perhaps on the front of a jacket, right above the heart. The die-cut borders are ideal for sewing it on or, you could use a hot iron to apply it to various fabrics.
