Do you come from the large northern state of Montana? This state is often made fun of for being large and mostly empty, but for a motorcycle rider, that can make it a great place to ride: there are many long stretches of road where law enforcement is scarce and, therefore, speed limits are almost unknown. You can really open up and see what your bike can do. If you're from Montana, you need to show it by wearing a Montana Patch. This State Rocker Patch measures 4 by 1.75 inches and is arched to sit perfectly on the sleeve of your jacket. You can even purchase these patches wholesale if you're a Montana biker club so everyone can wear one!
Montana is made up of some large flat areas, but about a third of the state features large mountain ranges, and the state actually has 77 named ranges. This is where the state gets its name, which is the Spanish word for 'mountain'. Montana is the fourth-largest state, but it also ranks highly in the list of least-populous and least densely-populated states. Most of the economy of Montana is based around ranching, farming, and resource production.
Prior to becoming a state, Montana was known as Montana Territory. While the name had been used for some time, when a bill to create a temporary territory from a part of Idaho Territory was introduce, there was objection to officially calling it Montana because the area wasn't all mountainous! Other suggestions included Abyssinia, Shoshone, Jefferson, and there was even a suggestion that the area be called Idaho and the current Idaho be renamed Montana because it featured more mountains! In the end, the name remained, and Montana officially became the 41st state on November 8, 1889.
