I'm going to get patriotic again today - I hope you don't mind. But after seeing the Proud To Be An American patch in the Saying Patches section I just couldn't help myself. As soon as I saw it the first thing that popped into my mind were the ungrateful little sops attending public schools in Arizona and Southern California.
In case you've missed it, several times within the last two years, Mexican students at some of these schools celebrated the heritage, and in some cases their citizenship, by insulting the United States of America. Among some of their offensive actions was the removal the American flag from the school flag pole and the hoisting of the Mexican flag in it's place. At one particular school the flag "ceremony" was even accompanied by students shouting anti-American sentiments.
Well I'm proud to be an American and I don't care what the politically correct crowd thinks about it. I love this patch because it expresses so clearly how I feel about my country, and I would be happy to wear it with pride on any piece of clothing - even leathers if I had them. My ancestry may be German, but I am American-born, American-bred, and damn proud of it!
