This Patch Remembers the 10th Commandment

10th Commandment PatchThe Ten Commandments set out the basic tenants of Christianity.  According to Exodus, Moses received the Commandments on two stone tablets from God after climbing Mount Sinai.  These Commandments include instructions about keeping the Sabbath day holy, worshipping only God, and prohibiting murder, theft, adultery and, in the 10th Commandment, not coveting that which belongs to another.  The 10th Commandment Patch is one of The Cheap Place's Christian Patches.

In Exodus 20:1-17, the 10 Commandments are laid out.  They are also then repeated in Deuteronomy 5:4-21.  The full text of the Commandment in Exodus is 'Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's'.  The text used in Deuteronomy is almost identical.  In both, the instructions are pretty clear.  The Commandment strictly prohibits wanting that which belongs to another.  Basically, one must always try to control one's jealousy and never act on it.  To do so is to break this Commandment.

The patch itself is pretty simple.  It features a shortened version of the text: '10th Commandment Thou Shall not Covet'.  It also features a simple drawing of the three crosses, the middle of which Jesus was crucified on.  It's easy to read and it gets the message across pretty well.  If this is your favorite commandment, or if it's the commandment you need to remind yourself of the most, pick up one of these patches.
