Over the years, the U.S. military has lost a number of soldiers in the different conflicts it has engaged in. Most of these solders, bodies were recovered and brought home to be laid to rest, but there are some who were never found. Others were held as prisoners of war for years, and while they were eventually returned home, they have had to live with the trauma they suffered. The POW MIA banner was created as a way of honoring those who were held as captives and those who went missing in action. Most of the POW MIA patches just feature the traditional logo of a man silhouetted against a prison camp, but this one puts that logo in the middle and encircles it with the words "bring 'em home! or send us back". This circle is then put on a long rectangle with barbed wire and POW MIA on either side. It makes a statement about the prisoners of war who were left behind with the military pulled out of a battle. They either need to be brought home, or the army needs to go in and rescue them.
The patch is embroidered in white on a black background. It measures 4.5 by 2.5 inches. This means that the POW MIA logo is somewhat small, but it still contains all the details of the image. This patch can be added to any type of cloth, including canvas bags and wallets.
