Many of the biker patches we sell demand attention through their dark imagery. They feature things like skulls and crossbones. But we do have a selection of patches that are considerably less dark. One such patch is the Brown Fox large embroidered iron-on patch. This 8.6 x 11-inch piece boasts realistic colors perfectly enhanced by detailed shading for a very realistic look.

The mysterious Knights Templar are the stuff of legends. As much as we think we know about them, there is still a lot we don't know. And so, we dream and imagine what they must have been like at a time when the world was in utter turmoil. The more we do so, the more romantic the stories become.

Now here is something you don't see every day in the biker world: embroidered back patches featuring Knights Templar. Here at The Cheap Place, we have a whole series of Knights Templar patches, beginning with this one: the Silver Cape Templar Knight large embroidered iron-on patch.



The Knights Templar was a military unit formed by the Roman Catholic church in 1119. Based out of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, the order was tasked with protecting the church and its vast landholdings against hostile expansions by other nations and groups. The Knights Templar were very active during the Crusades while doing their duty for more than two centuries.



This patch depicts the typical modern understanding of a Templar knight, mostly in silver and gray. There is just a hint of purple in the knight's helmet, sword, and right arm. His cape swoops down from the right shoulder while he protects his upper body with a shield being held in the left hand.

At 8 x 12 inches, the Brown Wolf embroidered iron-on patch is on the smaller side for a back patch, but that's only because of the width of the wolf's head. You still get a full foot of height, giving you plenty of material to fill in the back of your jacket or vest nicely. Whatever you do, be sure to attach the patch with needle and thread. You want to make sure your wolf doesn't go anywhere while you're screaming down the road at top speed.

Sometimes the best biker patches are the simple ones. The Brown Eagle large embroidered iron-on patch is one such piece. It doesn't require a whole lot of color or intricate shading to make its point. The image is powerful enough to speak on its own – despite a monochrome color scheme.



So what do you get with this large biker patch? The image of the majestic eagle descending as though it is just about ready to catch its prey. You can see the talons extended while the wings are pointed nearly straight up to catch the wind. If you were a mouse or another tasty critter, this is not a sight you would be happy to see.



The way this patch is shaped makes its ideal position on the back of a jacket or vest with the head placed just below the shoulder blades. That gives the wings plenty of room to stretch upward toward the shoulders. Against blue denim, the dark brown embroidery stands out nicely. Against blue or black leather, you get an entirely different look.



Velvet fabric and 100% rayon thread make for a beautiful patch that is also soft and flexible. The patch features a clean-cut embroidered border for easy sewing all the way around. Last but not least is a plastic backing that gives the patch just enough rigidity to prevent curling or sagging.



Measuring 12 x 12 inches, the Brown Eagle large, embroidered iron-on patch is definitely a back patch. So break out your needle and thread, affix this one to the back of a jacket or vest, and wear it proudly whenever you're out on your bike. This patch is definitely one that will get noticed. Whether or not that is a good thing is up to you.

You're not afraid of dogs, are you? Because if you are, the Pit Bull Spike Collar large iron on patch probably isn't for you. Sew this to the back of your vest and you'll scare yourself every time you get ready to walk out the door. On the other hand, this is a fantastic biker patch if you are big fan of pit bulls and leather.



It's hard to look at this patch and not be intimidated. At 10 x 9.6 inches, it could almost look life size under the right conditions. It is the stuff of postal worker and newspaper carrier nightmares. But hey, it's just a biker patch. Right?



The Pit Bull Spike Collar patch is a full color patch – as opposed to the gray version – featuring a brown pit bull with glaring yellow eyes and white, razor-sharp teeth. The entire piece is bordered in black, giving you a nice field to hide black thread. The embroidery here is outstanding enough to account for subtle shading that gives the dog's face real depth.



We recommend this one to any non-affiliated biker who happens to also be a dog lover. Pick up a couple extra for your friends and you can start your own pit bull club. You could do a lot worse for a mascot, that's for sure.



At any rate, just make sure you mount this patch to your jacket or vest securely. It is a full-sized back patch that needs to be sewn in place. If you've already got a back patch, no worries. This is still a great biker patch you can affix to your saddlebags, the back of your seat, or anywhere else you have a piece of open fabric. Your new pet pit bull will look good just about anywhere.

As always, we recommend attaching the patch with needle and thread. Also bear in mind that if you use black thread and stitch in the black field, the edges may curl up over time. You're better off getting some yellow thread and stitching right on the edge. Either way, it will look good on your back.

For the rest of us though, what a fantastic patch for the back of a jacket or vest.



Here, the outstretched claws get all the attention. You can still see the angry bird's face, but those claws steal the show. They sort of make you wonder what it's like to be a rabbit or mouse. Most of us wouldn't want to be in the wrong end of that mess.



At any rate, the Big Claws Eagle patch has everything you would expect from a patriotic biker patch. It has the eagle. It has the stars and stripes. What it doesn't have is a home. That home is your jacket or vest. Imagine it against the backdrop of black or brown leather. Imagine it attached to a washed-out denim jacket.



Do not let the name we gave this patch fool you. Although it does have an iron-on backing, we always recommend sewing back patches in place. They are far too large and heavy to trust to ironing. Not only that, but leather also doesn’t play well with hot irons. You are better off breaking out the needle and thread. And if you don't know how to sew, buying this patch gives you a reason to learn.



This patch is all about the claws, baby. It represents that side of the eagle that we don't get the see all that often. Give it a try. We think you're going to love it.
