One of the more recent wars the United States and its allies have fought is the Afghanistan War. What many don't know is that the War in Afghanistan actually started in 1978! This conflict began when the People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan overthrew the rightful government and seized power. Since then, the U.S. has supported Afghan factions in trying to take back their country, but the country did not openly fight in Afghanistan until October of 2001. Many military members have done a tour of duty in Afghanistan. If you're one of them, you might want to add the Afghanistan War Veteran Patch - Small Rocker version to your jacket. It can be found in the Rocker Patches category.
The more recent War in Afghanistan was launched as Operation Enduring Freedom following the bombing of the World Trade Center in September of 2001. The al-Qaeda sect, a group operating out of Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, was identified as the group behind the attacks. The first phase of the operation saw the Taliban removed from power, followed by attempts to capture al-Qaeda leaders such as Osama bin Laden. Despite his recent death, the war is considered an ongoing conflict and is the longest running major war that the United States has ever participated in. However, in April of 2012, the allied countries and the new Afghanistan government came to an agreement on how to withdraw from the country and bring the conflict to a close.
This patch, done in the traditional army colors of green, yellow, and black, is curved to sit nicely on the shoulder of a jacket or the front part of a vest. It measures 3.75 by 1.75 inches and can be either sewn or ironed on. It's one of many military related wholesale patches on the site.
