If Johnny Reb Bought from The Cheap Place

US Rebel Eagle Patch LargeToday's post is about the Rebel Eagle patch I ran across in the Large Back Patches section at The Cheap Place. Why, you may ask? Let me explain.

Have you noticed all the attention recently been given to the American Civil War? That's because the 150th anniversary of the war's beginning was marked this past April 12. The war began in April of 1861 and concluded in April 1865. Between the two sides they recorded more than 620,000 killed and 412,000 wounded.

I've studied the war in great detail and, although I take the side of the Union and I'm glad they won, I sympathize with about 90% of the Confederate cause. The Southern states were rebels at heart - just like their forefathers who fought against the British nearly 100 years earlier. They fought because they wanted their freedom and their independence. When you stop and think about, isn't that truly the American way? We do things differently than any other country in the world.

I like this Rebel Eagle patch because it clearly shows the underlying nature of what America is. In my personal opinion, if you're a lone wolf without a biker club, you could belong to the club of Americans and slap this patch on the back of your leathers. And as far as I'm concerned, there's no better club to belong to. Just make sure you sew the patch on securely because it can be kind of heavy.
