There are a lot of different flag patches you can get for your clothing, and each one says something different about you. If you choose to show off your Southern heritage with a Rebel Confederate Southern Flag Patch, you may get some comments from those who believe this flag shouldn't be flown ever again. However, the southern states do have a lot of history, and part of that history includes the confederacy and the Civil War. Biker patches are all about showing your beliefs and, in some cases, making people uncomfortable. This one does both.
The confederate flag patch is based on a rectangular version of the confederate battle flag. The version featuring the battle flag was actually the second national flag, the first was much closer to the traditional United States flag. This flag was called the Stainless Banner because it was a full white flag with the battle flag in the corner. The battle flag itself is usually square and features a red background with blue bars with white stars going from corner to opposite corner, crossing in the middle.
The rectangular version of the battle flag is the version that has become the most widely known and is usually called the Confederate Flag. It's also sometimes called the rebel flag or the Dixie flag. Today, there's some controversy over displaying this flag. To some, it's a symbol of their southern heritage and the distinct cultural traditions of the south. To others, however, it's a symbol of racism, separationists, and rebellion.
The rebel confederate flag patch measures three inches wide by two inches tall. A larger version is also available.
